"It feels impossible," Brooke Burke-Charvet says about her upcoming 43rd birthday. She certainly could have fooled us what with that body on the cover of Shape's September issue.
To what does she owe her incredible physique? Burke-Charvet says she is better shape now than ever because of Booty Burn, “a rhythmic, high-energy, and crazy sweat session," that she started teaching a few years ago to women ages 20 to 60.
The workout challenges and inspires while also fostering body positivity, she explains. “It’s not just the burning and sculpting—it’s about checking in with yourself and believing that you’re stronger than you think you are." The No. 1 tip she gives her group? “I tell the women in my class to stop having negative thoughts...Try for one day to only think positive thoughts about yourself, then try it for a week. Embrace those [body] parts that you love, and work on the ones you don’t.”
Burke-Charvet has some pretty positive thoughts on getting older too. Sure, life may be more chaotic now than it was in her 30s—especially with the demands of her four kids ages 6, 7, 12, and 14—but she confesses to loving her 40s and feeling better than ever. “What is age, anyway? I feel young because I’m beginning a new chapter in my life, which is so exciting!” she says.
