Perfect Scores and Powerful Paso Dobles

Let’s not beat around the bush. Maria Menounos earned the first perfect 30 of season 14 Dancing with the Stars last night and it was well deserved! After a few rocky rehearsals where Menounos and partner Derek Hough seemed to be butting heads she pulled out a sharp, passionate, and dramatic vampire-thermed paso doble.

And the powerful pasos didn’t stop there. Classical night marked the first team dance performances for season 14 DWTS and they were hot! Team Tango performed first with Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower (who was the star of this dance in my opinion—did you see that leg lift?), Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, Menounos and Hough, and Jaleel White and Kym Johnson scoring 27 points. Team Paso, consisiting of  William Levy and Cheryl Burke, Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd may have come in one point behind but boy were they good. Perhaps the judges were confused when the men removed their shirts. With all the pyrotechnics and the suspenders holding up the men’s pants it did look a little fireman-stripper but I am by no means complaining! That dance, and the muscles that made it happen, is a thing of beauty (ditto to Mark Ballas’ shirtless rumba with the ever-elegant Katherine Jenkins.)

And on that note let’s see how the other Dancing with the Stars contestants stacked up.
