Why We Love Lindsey Vonn
Lindsey Vonn was asked to homecoming Friday night by a Colorado high-schooler, and she said yes! The U.S. Skier and World Cup Champion was speaking at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy last Thursday and eating lunch with some of the students when 16-year-old Parker McDonald stopped by her table and asked her to the dance. Vonn recounted the story on her Facebook account saying, "He was so cute, nervous, and very polite, so of course I said yes!" Awww, that's so sweet! This is just one of the many reasons we love this fit celeb. Read on to find out why else we love Lindsey Vonn.
1. She's a three-time Alpine Ski World Cup winner. Not only was Vonn the first American woman to win three consecutive World Cup championships (2008, 2009 and 2010), but she was only the third woman ever to do so.
2. She doesn't give up. In 2006, she received the U.S. Olympic Spirit Award, following an injury she suffered while training for the downhill race at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Despite bruising her hip, she still competed and finished 8th. Her determination won her the award for best representing the Olympic Spirit.
3. She encourages girls to play sports. Vonn, who was one of Glamour's Women of the Year in 2010, says that there are no limits for today's female athletes and that they "play hard, get down and dirty and kick butt...we're going to set new and higher standards for female athletes in the future."
