Halfway into raw week I’m really starting to get the hang of things and we’re not just getting by, we’re getting sexy—in so many ways! Aside from the obvious date night there are a few ways this raw diet is upping the sex factor in my life.

We all think it, so I’ll just go ahead and say it out loud: how sexy I feel is largely tied to how flat my stomach looks. Aside from being admittedly self-conscious about a bulging belly, bloating is just plain uncomfortable, and does not make you want to get frisky! Because my raw coach Stacy Stowers has helped me ease into the raw diet without a load of heavy nuts and seeds, I’ve side stepped the dreaded bloat people often encounter when transitioning to a raw diet. Plus, I haven’t consumed a greasy burger or fries, plate of nachos (my fave), or calorie bomb dessert all week so there hasn’t been a single day I’ve woken up feeling puffy, which for me is unusual. At least once per week I’m bound to hit happy hour a little too hard or indulge in too many salty snacks only to regret my snug skirt the next day.  I’ve been so satisfied this week I haven’t even had the urge to deviate from my new diet. Raw food may be my new secret to a flat stomach.

So now I’m out of bed with my nice flat tummy and it’s time for breakfast: enter the happy shake. This is one of Stacy’s favorite raw recipes (get it here) and for good reason. Aside from being tasty and satisfying it packs a sexy-time one-two punch. Made with raw cacao, we get the mood boosting benefits of chocolate, which we all know causes us to produce the feel-good chemical serotonin. Cacao also contains phenylethylamine (PEA), which triggers the release of dopamine. Plus, Stacy sent me to work with an extra dose of bee pollen to sprinkle on top of my happy shake (check it out pictured left). Why? Because it was date night and bee pollen is packed with zinc, a natural libido booster. In addition to increasing sex drive, and perhaps more importantly, it improves orgasm. More bees please!

Finally, we’ve made it to date night, looking good, feeling good, libido boosted, but how’s this meat eating guy going to react to all the raw food? Being welcomed at the door by Stacy, raw mojito in hand (Tito’s handmade vodka—I know! My date and I both like vodka more than rum, fresh squeezed lime juice, a tiny amount of raw sugar, organic mint leaves, and a splash of club soda), certainly got things off on the right foot. Next up was Stacy’s “better than ketchup” and fries for an appetizer followed by salad and raw pizza for dinner. Dessert was coconut cream banana split parfaits and we went home with goat cheese chocolate truffles, which Stacy recommends we enjoy with a glass of wine.

How did my date react to all the raw food? He loved it saying that the pizza (pictured here) was his favorite. Direct quote from this morning’s e-mail—hope he doesn’t mind! “I’m still super full. That raw stuff is crazy.” And in our ten e-mails since, he has invited me to make raw food with him this weekend. A raw dining success? I’d say so! I plan on dazzling my date with the raw Pad Thai, peanut sauce, and spring rolls Stacy taught me to make this week. It looked impressive and who can say no to satay? Stay tuned to get the raw Thai food recipes and Stacy’s secret for wrapping spring rolls. Plus, more “raw” drink recipes to come tomorrow!
