There seems to be a holiday for just about every food, and today is National Guacamole Day—what better excuse to grab your chips and dig in!
You already know that avocados are filled with healthy fats (good for your cholesterol and keeping inflammation down), but they're also a surprising source of beta-carotene, which is essential for eye health, and they're a low-sugar, high-fiber option, so they promote blood sugar regulation. There's no reason every day can't be National Guacamole Day, but if you only celebrate once a year, here are some recipes you have to try.
If you're looking for new ways to jazz up your favorite guacamole recipe, try this fruit-infused recipe from Toloache executive chef Julian Medina. Mangos, apples, and pear slices give this dip a sweetness that cuts through the tart lime juice and the spicy jalapeño.
