The First Cocktail of Christmas: Campari with a Pear Purée
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me Campari with a pear purée.
(Did you sing it? I hope so!)
This delicious low calorie cocktail came my way courtesy of Joe Campanale, the master behind dell’anima (a neighborhood favorite of mine), L’Artusi, and Anfora, three amazing restaurants with, possibly more amazing alcoholic drink selections than one can ever try. I had the opportunity to taste this cocktail, named the Tricyclette, mixed by the man himself last week and knew we needed to start the 12 Cocktails of Christmas off right. Plus, I had to pay homage to that partridge in a pear tree!
This low calorie cocktail recipe is so easy to make, it requires just three ingredients and yet it still feels special. And look at it, just gorgeous! Give this lovely libation a fun name like Partridge in a Prickly Pear Tree and serve it as your signature cocktail at your next holiday soirée.
¾ oz prickly pear purée
1 ½ oz Grüner Veltliner or an aromatic white wine
Shake ingredients hard with ice to make a shakerato (it's a shaken Italian drink in case you're wondering. Basically just shake hard). Strain into a chilled neat class. Top it with the Grüner Veltliner or an aromatic white wine.
