Finding the best milk to drink for you can be hard. If you're looking for an alternative to traditional cow's milk, almond milk is a great option. Aside from drinking it straight, almond milk works in smoothies, baked goods, and of course poured over your morning cereal. And while it's readily available at most stores these days, it's actually really easy to make your own at home! But before I convince you it really is doable let me tell you why you might want to.
First off, for a lactose-intolerant like me, it’s a godsend. Unlike milk, which results in bloating and discomfort, almond milk can actually be a de-bloater thanks to the 150 milligrams of potassium per eight ounce serving. Plus, it’s low in calories, about 40 to 60 per glass when it's unsweetened. Not sold yet? Almond milk is cholesterol-free, vegan, and perfect for those with soy allergies.
