Low Cal Cocktails inspired by the 2011 Emmy Award Winners
If there’s something I love more than a low cal cocktail and checking out red carpet fashion it’s a themed low calorie cocktail while watching red carpet fashion! Inspired by two of last night’s winners these cocktails are sure to be a hit at my next Mad Men viewing party (perhaps I’ll wear my new Banana Republic blouse, skirt and cardigan from the Mad Men Collection!).
Mad Men: Old Fashioned
Celebrate Mad Men's Best Drama Series win with Don Draper's cocktail staple, an old fashioned. (approximately 178 calories, 2.2g sugar)
Ingredients:
2 Parts Chivas Regal(tm)
1 Dash Angostura Bitters
1 Cherry
1 Slice Orange
Directions:
Express oils of one large piece orange peel into old-fashioned glass. Combine ingredients over ice and stir. Garnish with a maraschino cherry for Mad Men flair!
Friday Night Lights: Taylor and Tonic
As days get colder and my will to go out gets weaker a few girl friends, a batch of Taylor and Tonics, inspired by Kyle Chandler's Emmy Award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and a DVD marathon of Friday Night Lights sounds like a good idea to me! (approximately 250 calories)
Ingredients:
2 Parts Beefeater(tm) 24 Gin
3 Parts Fever Tree Tonic Water
Lemon to garnish
Directions:
Build over ice in a Collins glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
