True Blood Cookbook’s Bloody Bites
If you’re going through True Blood withdrawal following last week's season five finale, check out the official True Blood cookbook, True Blood: Eat, Drinks, and Bites from Bon Temps (amazon.com; $20), which comes out today to get your fill. As any Trubie knows, southern dining is a big part of the HBO series set in the fictional city of Bon Temps, Louisiana. To get it right, series creator Alan Ball teamed up with Marcelle Bienvenu, “the Queen of Cajun Cooking,” to create authentic recipes based on the show's cuisine. Alongside the sometimes gory recipes are photos, quotes, and behind-the-scenes information from the popular Vampire series. Check out the recipe for Beautifully Broken Bisque below. It's loaded with potassium-, magnesium-, and fiber-packed beets, carrots, and onion for a healthy way to keep up with your True Blood addiction.
