Making Your Holiday Cards a Little More Personal
Here's a very quick and fun idea I wanted to share with you, inspired from my recent trip to New Orleans (geesh, there was a whole lot of inspiration going on down there because I swear I've written at least four blog posts alone on that city, and I hope you're not tired of hearing about it at this point). This comes right in time for the holiday and is fun way to make your holiday cards a little more merry: making homemade wax seals.
Yes, it takes a little more time, but I promise, it will be worth it on the receiving end. Let's take it back to the good old days when things had to be done in a delicate way because we didn't have the luxury of just licking the corners of an envelope and shoving it in a mailbox for worry-free delivery.
You can purchase the seals and waxes from the New Orleans-based store, Papier Plume, that provided us with the demonstration below to help you do this at home. For myself, I purchased the roman-style Monogram with the Initial "R," and silver and gold wax. To speed up the process, you can also purchase a glue gun and super pliable wax made for this type of dispenser. To top off your seal with a little glam, you can purchase metallic ink pads that will give the finished seal a little more sparkle.
Step 1: Light the wick of the desired wax.

Step 3: Round out the wax to approximately the same size of the desired seal you will be using.

Step 4: Push the seal into the wax firmly but not too hard, and let it sit for about five seconds. Rushing this step will ruin the final product.
