I'll be competing in my first triathlon...tomorrow!
I can’t believe that 12 weeks ago we started this crazy journey towards completing a triathlon and now it’s here! I am so excited for race day tomorrow. People keep asking me if I’m ready, and I can only answer, “as ready as I’ll ever be.” I know that Scott Berlinger and SHAPE’s training plan prepared me properly, but I’m still pretty nervous. I’ve never put all three sports together, so that’ll be new, plus I’ve never had to go through all the transitions. I’m also worried about the fact that the weather forecast for Windsor, NJ (where the New Jersey State Triathlon is going down) tomorrow is 40% chance of AM showers! Ugh, me + a bike that I already don’t feel totally comfortable on + wet roads does not an ideal race day make. Regardless, I am determined to have as much fun as possible and just finish. I’m not concerned about my race time at all—I’m just concerned about having a good time.
To assuage my nerves a bit, I’ve put together a list of everything I’ll need tomorrow. Take a look and let me know what you think I’ve left off:
