Since it was founded, Zumba Fitness has helped millions of people change their lives, lose pounds, and get in shape. Now they're hoping to win the war against hunger—and they want your help.
“Hunger is one of the world’s greatest solvable problems," Alberto Perlman, co-founder and CEO of Zumba Fitness said in a press release. “While many fight to burn calories, others suffer from hunger. The Zumba network is in a unique position to tip the scales in the right direction, and we expect to touch millions of lives.”
From April through June, Zumba Fitness will spearhead the "Great Calorie Drive." When fans shake off calories in Zumba classes worldwide (click here to find a class near you), Zumba Fitness will donate the equivalent of the average number of calories burned (750 for up to three classes) to Feeding America and World Food Programme (WFP). During the three-month campaign, Zumba is challenging the world to "donate" 2.6 billion calories, which will equal about 3.5 million meals. Here's how you can get involved:
1. Download the Zumba Fitness Mobile App on your smartphone (iOS and Android-friendly; it's also free from the App Store™ or Google Play).
2. Check in to a Zumba Fitness class. If you're not sure where the nearest one is to you, don't worry—once downloaded, the app will direct you to the closest location.
3. Get moving and dancing in class. The calories automatically will be donated to Feeding America and WFP.

“By teaming up with Feeding America and WFP, the Great Calorie Drive has made it simple for anyone to find and take a Zumba class, burn off calories while having a blast, and donate the calories they burn to make a difference in other people’s lives,” Perlman said.
