You know that feeling when you discover a never-redeemed gift card buried in your wallet: Jackpot! Or so you think, until you realize it expired three years ago. And how many times have you walked by a store where you have a balance to spend, but of course you left the card at home?
Gyft, a new app introduced last year, helps prevent these letdowns by allowing you to upload gift card balances onto your smartphone. You can buy, save, and redeem cards from more than 200 retailers—including sporting goods stores like Columbia, Cabela's, and Nike—and your balance will be in the palm of your hand at all times. The app also allows users to re-gift cards to friends and family via email or Facebook, making it super-easy to send a birthday, wedding, or anniversary gift with a simple swipe on your phone.
"The average American has four or five gift cards lying around at any given time, and a lot of that money ends up unused,” says Gyft founder CJ MacDonald, who was inspired to start the company after receiving tons of gift cards for his wedding that he kept forgetting to spend.
Now the company is giving back to women battling cancer by partnering with E! News host Giuliana Rancic and her charity of choice. For the month of April, Gyft will donate a percentage of sales to Bright Pink, the organization that runs Giuliana's Fab-U-Wish program.

"As a working mom and savvy shopper, Giuliana is a perfect example of someone who can benefit from consolidating her gift cards all in one place with Gyft,” MacDonald says. "Plus we're excited to give back to Fab-U-Wish, a cause that's close to her heart.”
During her own battle with breast cancer, Giuliana found that getting her hair and makeup done for her job as a TV host helped her feel more confident and less like a patient. Through Fab-U-Wish, Giuliana grants special wishes—such as a shopping spree or lunch with a fave celeb—to young women fighting breast or ovarian cancer so they can get their mind off their treatments and experience a day in the life of a Hollywood star.
And if you download Gyft today, you'll not only give back to a very worthy cause but also receive $10 in free gift card money.
