Thortons and QuikTrip Recall Grape Tomatoes

Alert, grape-tomato lovers! There's a new food recall. Thortons, QuikTrip and Fresh & Easy all have recalled grape tomatoes or products with grape tomatoes because of the potential for salmonella contamination.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Thorntons is recalling six-ounce Garden Salads and 5.6-ounce Chef Salads, QuikTrip Corp. is recalling grilled chicken salads from its Arizona convenience stores, and Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets is recalling its Organic Grape Tomatoes. All of the recalls are voluntary and no one has been sickened, according to the FDA.

This isn't the first time grape tomatoes have been recalled for possible salmonella contamination. Just last May a recall was issued. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody) and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella cause more serious complications.
