Women Will Give Up Sex, Not Cell Phone, to Lose 10 Pounds

If you had the choice, what would you give up to instantly lose 10 pounds? Your sex life? The Internet? Caffeine? Your cell phone? The answer might surprise you...

Life Time Fitness recently asked 2,300 people, most of whom were women, what they would give up to lose 10 pounds. And the results were pretty interesting. 64 percent of respondents would not turn off their cell phone for even one day, and 70 percent would be unwilling to forgo internet. However, 30 percent of those asked said they would give up sex for one month and 10 percent would do so for a year or more to lose 10 pounds.

But that wasn't all. Researchers also found that 65 percent would run one mile every day if weight loss was guaranteed, almost half would nix caffeine and 37 percent would skip a meal a day. In addition, more than 30 percent of respondents would pay $500 to be 10 pounds lighter, and another 10 percent would postpone their wedding or another special event to lose the extra weight, according to the study.

Because the research was predominately done on females, we asked Life Time Fitness what the men would give up to lose 10 pounds. Not surprisingly (boys will be boys!), a majority of men would not give up sex. Seventy percent couldn't give up sex at all, while 21 percent would give up sex for a month, 5 percent would give up sex for six months and only 3 percent would give up sex for a year.

What would you give up to instantly lose 10 pounds? Sex? Your cell phone? Or would you give anything up at all?
