I read SHAPE magazine every month from cover to cover as I'm sure many of you do, and in the November issue on page ninety-nine there was a quick product cover that caught my eye. It's called OptumizeMe and is an application that you can download to your iPhone.
The App provides over 1,000 different lifestyle-type challenges from which you can choose. Some are as small as getting eight hours of sleep at night or some as committed as giving up caffeine or training for a marathon.
I'm always looking for new ways to challenge myself to stay in shape, and I've been known to use other lifestyle apps such as Couch to 10K that help push me a little harder to do things than I might not normally do on my own.
So I downloaded that App and browsed through a couple of the challenges, and I found two that I want to give a go. With the upcoming holidays and my travel schedule, finding time to workout is going to be tough. My regular yoga studio and Crossfit gym routine won't be the same in the various cities so I wanted to find a way to keep things going in the right direction.
I'm going to be committing to completing 3,000 sit ups and 3,000 push ups from December 1st through December 31st. That's 100 of each every single day. If you'd like to join me on this challenge, all you need to do is download the free App and add me under the "People" tab. Just search under "All Users" and type in "GirlontheGo".
You'll see both challenges that I'm participating in and can join me. They are called "Sit Up for Health (Daily)" and "Pushing My Way Up (Daily)". The stakes are high, so I fully intend on accomplishing what I set out to do. If I don't complete the sit-ups I have to give up Modern Family for a month (and I'm not allowed to DVR those episodes and watch them later, either), and if I don't complete the push-ups, I have to give up my daily cup of coffee for a month (ouch).
