4 Low Cal Treat Recipes to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

You can’t "will" a sweet tooth away and if you don’t give in, you may find yourself loading up on non-gratifying alternatives or eventually breaking down and rebound overeating. But low cal and satisfying aren’t mutually exclusive. Here are four tempting treats I've concocted that always do it for me:

Chocolate Ginger Fondue
How to: Melt 2 Tbsp chocolate chips and stir in a half tsp fresh grated ginger. Use as a dip for 1 cup fresh whole strawberries.
(about 115 calories)

Chocolate Cherrysicles
How to: In a blender, whip together one half cup each frozen cherries and organic chocolate soy milk or organic 1% chocolate milk. Transfer to popsicle molds and freeze at least 30 minutes.
(125 calories for the whole batch)

Banana Pop
How to: Take 2 Tbsp roasted peanuts. Crush them. Unpeel a mini banana. Lightly coat the naner with nuts. Gentry wrap it in wax paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
(about 150 calories)

Mock Apple Crisp
How to: Mixture together 1 Tbsp water with 1 tsp pure maple syrup and set aside. Wash, core and chop a small apple (leave the skin on). Toss the slices with 1 Tbsp lemon juice, drizzle them with the maple mixture and microwave for about 5 minutes. Chop a Cinnamon Roll, Ginger Snap or Pecan Pie flavored Larabar in half (Larabar also makes mini versions, which are about the size of half a regular bar). Crumble it and sprinkle over the apple.
(about 200 calories)

How often does your sweet tooth strike and how do you satisfy it? If you try any of my recipes, please let me know what you think and if you have any favorites of your own, please share them!

P.S. I have no affiliation with Larabar. I just really like them!
