Do You Handle Stress or Does Stress Handle You?

Do you have trouble saying "NO?"

Do you feel smothered by all the tasks you have to complete?

Do you feel pressured by the ticking of someone else's clock?

Do you  feel guilty when you take out time for yourself?

Do you hold all your feelings inside and feel like you might
            blow-up from the inside out?

Answering YES to any of these questions could mean you are a victim of
STRESS.

Simply put, STRESS is a silent manipulator and loves to reign havoc upon its innocent victims.  It can cause weight gain, weight loss, high blood pressure, irritability, sleeplessness, mood swings, panic attacks, irregular menstrual cycles, depression, and can lead to heart attacks. Stress can literally make you sick!

Any ONE of these symptoms could be bad enough, but when two or more are major factors within your day, you are left feeling overwhelmed and defeated before you begin a task.

So what can you do? In order to maintain balance, a person can start by making adjustments to improve the way they see things.  They can turn reactions into actions!

#1  Admit you are not perfect.

#2  Put it in writing.

#3  Create a 24 hour planner and list everything you do hourly.
You may find you are trying to squeeze fifty pounds of mud
      into a five pound sack!

#4  Admit you are only one person and have limits.

#5  Eat regularly. Drink plenty of water.

#6  Make time to exercise.
  • park at the far end of the parking lot when you go to Wal-Mart!
  • take your cart back when you are finished using it
  • choose the stairs, even when an elevator is available
#7   Exercise your right to say, "NO!"
Learn how to say it without guilt.
      Practice in the mirror.
       Know when to say it.

#8.  Do something JUST FOR YOU!
  • go to the movies
  • go to a yard sale
  • take up a hobby
  • work in the yard
  • walk on the beach
  • swing on a swing set
  • slide down a slide
  • color in a coloring book
  • watch cartoons
  • LEARN HOW TO PLAY
#9   Love yourself! UNCONDITIONALLY!
Be tolerant!

#10  Meditate, visualize, pray
       Affirm positive affirmations

Above all remember, a small change can bring about big dividends!
