Redefining Success

The other day a client told me that for the first time in her life she was no longer measuring success solely by changes in her weight or size.

She went to a party and was surrounded by unhealthy foods - foods she used to either mindlessly munch or knowingly indulge in with a black and white attitude - indulge today, starve tomorrow.

If you read this blog you know that my philosophy isn't about restricting and depriving - it's all about nourishing and living in balance. And that's what hit her.

At the party she didn't want to overindulge or eat "junk" just because everyone else was. She just wanted to eat healthfully and feel good. And that felt like success.

When I hear a story like this it puts me on cloud 9 because losing weight and keeping it off is really about changing your relationship with food.

So I'd like to hear from you - what was your "a-ha moment" when your mindset flipped from "dieting" to a change in lifestyle? Please share your story!

P.S.
I took this photo in NYC in the East Village. If your a-ha moment hasn't happened yet, be patient and consider asking yourself these questions:
What makes me feel good about eating healthfully?
When I don't eat healthfully and take care of myself what do I miss out on that's important to me?
