Making a molehill out of a mountain

This week when my personal trainer, Whitney Cole, came to my house, she decided to take advantage of the gorgeous weather we’ve been having in California and head outside. After a warm-up walk and some strength-training moves, she eyed a huge hill near my house and told me we were going to run up it. While I admired her optimism, I thought back to last year when I attempted the same feat—and failed miserably. But if I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that Whitney won’t take no for an answer. So sure enough, the next thing I know, I’m chugging up the hill. Whitney told me to break it into two chunks: first focus on making it to the half-way point and then to my street sign at the very top. The strategy worked and I made it all the way! I didn’t have too much time to celebrate though—she had me repeat it five more times.  When I can’t get outside I use this killer indoor “hill” workout.
