Every other time I have tried to change my diet it was because I wanted to lose weight. The only measure of success I had was the number on my scale. I based my self-worth on achieving the goal weight that I never reached. This time, things are different.
Now every day is successful for me. I am not trying to lose weight, I am trying to be healthy and my new lifestyle is helping me do that. Weight loss is simply a fantastic side effect to this. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to look better in my jeans but it is not my main focus.
Whenever I choose to go to bed at 10:30pm so that I can get my seven hours of sleep and wake up at 5:30 to do some cardio, it's success. Everytime I eat my breakfast at home rather than having a bacon and egg bagel from the shop by my work, it's success. When I drink green tea, go for a walk, stock my fridge with healthy food choices or use virtual trainer to log my food intake and fitness, it's all success!
This time I know that I am worth taking care of and I deserve to have a healthy body and a long life. I'm not going to beat myself up because I made a mistake. I'm not going to allow myself to use a scale to determine my value. I'm going to enjoy this process and celebrate success by loving myself every day!
