The weight is over

The UPS delivery guy came to my house this morning and delivered a bunch of workout equipment! I received a new weighted ball, dumbbells, resistance bands (find out why this may be the best tool for your home gym), and a Bosu balance trainer. Iā€™m so excited because now I can strength train without waiting for my personal trainer, Whitney Cole, to come over. Here are three of my favorite moves to do with my new goodies:

  • Russian twist Hold a weighted ball with both hands in front of chest and sit on a Bosu with knees bent, feet on the floor. Lean back until you feel your abs engage, then raise your feet. Rotate torso to the right, then to the left, to complete 1 rep. Continue, twisting from side to side.
  • Up-and-over Get in plank position with right arm next to a Bosu. Next, place right hand on Bosu and bring left hand beside it, then place right hand on the floor to the right of the Bosu and place left hand beside it. Repeat, moving to the left, to complete 1 rep.
  • Burpees Hold a Bosu with both hands in front of your chest, flat side facing your body, and stand with feet hip-width apart. Squat deeply and place Bosu on the floor in front of you. Jump or step feet back into plank position. Jump or step feet forward again. Then jump straight up, reaching Bosu overhead. Return to starting position and repeat. See how to do a bosu burpee here.
