We all know interval workouts are better at torching calories and burning fat than steady state cardio (want to know why? click here), and it’s easy to execute when you’re on a cardio machine at the gym. Just choose the interval setting or create your own interval workout by varying the speed, incline, and/or resistance on your machine and Keep your eye on the timer. But what about when you take your run or ride outside? It’s hard to know just how hard to push yourself to go from, say a rate of perceived exertion (RPE) of 3 to an RPE of 8, and how long to maintain your pace once you get there.
