Highlights of season 13 Dancing with the Stars.
Week 3: Most Memorable Year of My Life

In week 3 of DWTS each contestant chose a song to represent the most memorable year of their life. There were lots of emotional stories like the end of David Arquette’s marriage to Courteney Cox and his battle with alcoholism, the birth of Nancy Grace’s twins, and Carson Kressley’s struggle to find confidence as a gay “outsider” to name a few. But none was more moving than J.R. Martinez’s rumba dedicated to those who lost their lives in military service. Everyone could see and feel the emotion in his performance and the judges rewarded him with two nines and an eight putting him in second place with Chynna Phillips.
Week 7: Halloween

Week 7’s Halloween theme was across the board fun. Unfortunately it wasn’t a top week for J.R Martinez. His tango to the Ghostbusters theme song wasn’t great leaving him with a 25 after top marks the week before. Why does this rank as one of our favorite Martinez moments? It’s more about partner Karina Smirnoff, just look at her in the skeletal costume and wig—so fun! Plus who doesn’t love a little Ghostbusters!?
Week 8: Waltz

In week 8 J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff earned the first 30 off the season for their moving waltz. This put the dancing duo back at the top of the leader board after a mediocre performance on week 7. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba called the performance “magic” and we agree, it’s hard to believe this pair is not a real couple!
Week 8: Instant Jive

The week before the semifinals DWTS contestants had to perform two dances for the first time including the instant jive. We loved J.R Martinez’s fun and peppy routine but it was the moment just before he learned he would be performing to Tutti Frutti that we loved most about week 8. After pulling a 30 for his waltz Martinez thanked both his mother, and who else but Justin Bieber. We loved him before but he had us laughing out loud!
Week 9: Cha Cha Relay

We knew from the get-go J.R Martinez would make it to the top this season of DWTS and in week 9 he solidified his spot in the finals despite being in the bottom two up against Hope Solo. Martinez’s performance may have suffered due to an ankle injury but he still managed to literally lift partner Karina Smirnoff during their dance. He also lifted our spirits as he talked about how "positivity is definitely the secret to my success," after suffering from burns over 40 percent of his body at age 19.
Week 10: Finals

After Ricki Lake’s shocking third place finish we were thrilled to see J.R. Martinez win Dancing with the Stars season 13. Shortly before the winner was announced, Martinez told his partner he wanted to help earn her first mirror ball trophy. A stand up guy to the end we think the veteran earned this win both on and off the dance floor. What do you think? Was Martinez the best, was Lake robbed or should Rob Kardashian been rewarded for his incredible growth this season on Dancing with the Stars?
