When Teresa Palmer signed on to play a skilled martial artist and sword-fighter for the movie I Am Number Four (soon to be released on Blu-ray and DVD), she didn't just want to look the part, she wanted to be the part. So to get uber fit for the role, she hired celebrity trainer Jason Walsh, who has also trained Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel and Ben Affleck, to transform her into the character Six.
Before the movie, Palmer was already pretty fit, Walsh says, so it was all about taking her to the next step by working on her stability, flexibility and running form. She worked out for an hour to 90 minutes four days a week.
Teresa Palmer's I Am Number Four Workout
According to Walsh, Palmer would start with an active warm-up, mainly stretching with movement just to get the body warm. Next, Palmer would go through a series of squats, lunges and other lower-body work. After that came more specific exercises such as working out on the VersaClimber or the slide board. And the end result? Take a look at her in the movie — speaks for itself!
