Why Was Lane Bryant's Body-Positive Ad Featuring Ashley Graham Rejected By TV Networks?

Lane Bryant just released an epic new body-pos commercial that may never get a chance to air. According to People, a rep for the brand says it has been rejected by multiple networks, including NBC and ABC, for supposedly being "too steamy for TV."

The ad is part of Lane Bryant's new #ThisBody campaign—meant to celebrate women of all shape's and sizes—and stars curvy models, including Ashley Graham, who just made history as one of three Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girls. In the commercial, Graham is seen kickboxing, in lingerie, rocking the brand's jeans, and posing nude with the other models. Another model in the ad is shown breastfeeding. (Read what Graham has to say about the 'plus-size' vs. 'curvy' model debate.)

Not to fear, Lane Bryant tweeted our the commercial so you can take a peek for yourself:

"It is a true celebration of women of all sizes doing what makes them feel beautiful, whether it's breastfeeding their newborn, flaunting their bodies the way they see fit, breaking down barriers all around and simply being who they are or want to be!" the Lane Bryant rep told People.

What do the networks have to say? Well, a representative for NBC told People, "As part of the normal advertising standards process, we reviewed a rough cut of the ad and asked for minor edits to comply with broadcast indecency guidelines. The ad was not rejected and we welcome the updated creative."

So jury is still out on whether or not we'll ultimately get to see this commercial on our TVs, but with any luck, we'll soon be watching this commercial before and after all those "steamy" Victoria's Secret commercials.
