Hooked on Yoga Hop: As the winded paparazzi know, Reese Witherspoon has long been a runner – but now she has a new workout routine.
This 32-year-old has found a new way to increase her strength and stamina sans sneakers. She’s hooked on Yoga Hop, a class that combines poses with high-energy music. “Reese looked more toned after just one month of sessions,” says instructor and studio co-owner Matthew Reyes. The cameras may still follow her, but she’s never looked better in the pics.
REESE'S YOGA WORKOUT
When she's in town, the actress takes two weekly 90-minute classes at Yoga Hop in Santa Monica, California. Unlike a typical studio, this one plays rock, pop, and hip-hop music, and the songs change daily. In the first hour, students change yoga poses every few breaths. During the last 30 minutes, the pace slows as the focus switches to flexibility and students hold stretches for up to a minute or more.
PROOF OF PROGRESS IN HER YOGA WORKOUT ROUTINE
Everyone in the class cranks out five to 10 push-ups between yoga poses. “At first Reese did these on her knees,” says Reyes. “Now she can do full push-ups, and she never sits out a set.”
HER FAVORITE YOGA WORKOUT CHALLENGE
"Side-angle pose strengthens Reese's legs and stretches her chest," Reyes says. (That explains her to-die-for gams and perfect posture!) Try it Stand with feet hipwidth apart. Lunge forward with left foot (so thigh is parallel to the floor) and turn right foot out. Place left hand on floor, inside left foot. Rotate torso to the right and extend right arm toward ceiling, palm facing right. Hold for 30 seconds; repeat on opposite side.
