Every girl wants to look her best on her wedding day, even celebrities. So when Rules of Engagement star and host of Shedding for the Wedding Sara Rue got engaged last year, she set out to conquer her weight once and for all. Rue became the spokesperson for Jenny Craig, recently named the most effective diet on the market: and along the way dropped more than 50 pounds! Over the weekend, Rue married her long-time boyfriend Kevin Prince in a sunset ceremony in Pacific Palisades, Calif., looking gorgeous in her wedding dress.

So just how did Sara Rue get wedding ready? We rounded up her best weight-loss and wedding-day tips!

Sara Rue's 3 Top Wedding Day Tips

1. Have portion control. Rue learned proper portion control from the folks at Jenny Craig, and even made sure to be aware of portion sizes at her wedding! She told People magazine that she'd be indulging by trying tiny slivers of both of her wedding cakes!

2. Create mini-milestones. Rue had been using her wedding as a major motivator for weight-loss, but says that other reasons — like fitting in a certain pair of jeans or looking good for her honeymoon — has also been a good way to stay energized. 

3. Set a workout goal. Rue recently ran her first half marathon — a major workout accomplishment! Training for a event like this gave her workouts purpose, and something more inspiring to work toward instead of just burning calories.
