Allison Williams definitely knows how to steam up the small screen with her role on HBO’s hit series Girls, so it comes as no surprise she worked hard to get her figure into top shape for season 2. What’s her secret to those camera-ready curves?
Aside from sweat-worthy Core Fusion Barre and SoulCycle classes, the talented actress has been working with celebrity trainer Reggie Chambers in NYC on a routine filled with boxing, grueling core work, and resistance moves that use her own body weight.
We sat down with the fitness pro to get the scoop on her specific routine!
SHAPE: So awesome to connect with you! When did you first start working with Allison Williams? And how often do you train together?
Reggie Chambers (RC): We started working together while she was shooting season 2 of Girls. We train whenever she can fit it into her schedule. I like to keep exercise sessions at an hour so you can really go full-force, and it should take an hour to really exhaust your body. Those are the best kinds of workouts, and they do your body the most good.
SHAPE: What were some of her fitness goals when she came to you, and would you say you met them?
RC: Like so many women, especially those in the public eye, she wants to be toned and in shape. With high-definition TV, every little thing shows. Even though Allison is so young and naturally thin and lithe, we tried to make her look svelte in every way. And yes, have a look at her. We definitely met her fitness goals and mine for her.
SHAPE: Describe the type of training you do together.
RC: We do boxing, core work, and resistance in the form of weights, lunges, planks, and more. I tried to come up with some exercises she can do with her own body weight (like lunges, planks, or pushups) easily when she is traveling.
SHAPE: How is she to train as an athlete?
RC: Allison is naturally athletic and is also very disciplined, so I would say she is very easy to train.
SHAPE: Give us the scoop on diet! Do you recommend that she follow any particular program?
RC: I always recommend a similar diet for all my clients: A clean diet (no processed foods and lots of fruits and veggies), that's high in protein and low in carbs.
SHAPE: What is your best advice to anyone looking to have a fabulous figure like Allison's?
RC: Eat right, work hard, and have discipline.
