Jillian Michaels Reveals Her Top Training Secrets!
Jillian Michaels is best known for the drill sergeant-esque approach to training she employed on The Biggest Loser, but the tough-as-nails trainer reveals a softer side in an exclusive interview with SHAPE magazine this month. After retiring from the show, she entered a new chapter—and this month she bares her bod, sexier than ever, as well as her thoughts on motherhood in our September issue.
This is Michaels' second time appearing on the cover of SHAPE. In our May 2011 issue, Michaels shared how she unraveled the emotional aspects behind so many of her contestants' diet and fitness struggles—which she totally identified with having battled weight and body confidence issues at a young age.
In the past year, she gained a new perspective on life as she became a mother! Thanks to two new additions to her family (her partner Heidi Rhoades recently gave birth to a son, Phoenix, and the couple also adopted a Haitian daughter, Lukensia) she realizes that time really can be a luxury, "I used to tell moms that for the sake of their well-being they had to put themselves first," she says. "But I know now that's not always possible."
In the magazine, Michaels reveals six beat-the-clock strategies she uses to keep her body in top shape now that her time is even more crunched. "Sometimes you've got to make your work and workouts co-exist," she says in our September issue. She also dishes about her favorite workout music, talks about who inspires her, and tells her biggest pet-peeve!
Better yet, this all-star trainer shares a fat-shredding workout that will cut down the minutes spent at your gym session, but not the results. The ten-minute routine is part of her new program, BodyShred, that is coming to Crunch clubs nationwide this month.
