5 active getaways of the stars
By: Jessica Merrill
Just because you haven't appeared on the silver screen doesn't mean you can't live like a celebrity, at least for a few days. After all, everyone deserves a vacation replete with hip hotels, fantastic restaurants, and plenty of decadence. But even stars like to be active on the road, so they go to places where they can get outdoors and stay in shape. From Vail's powdery slopes and the beaches of Hawaii to the streets of New York City, these five trips will help you chill out and squeeze in a little exercise-even if the only autographs you're penning are on your credit card receipts.

Orange County, CaliforniaWith perennially sunny weather, luxurious beachfront hotels, challenging golf courses, and fabulous shopping, Laguna Beach and Newport Beach are two of Hollywood's most popular weekend O.C. playgrounds. Your itinerary Fore! Golf is a favorite pastime for Catherine Zeta-Jones and Téa Leoni, and a strong, middle-whittling swing may be the secret to their super-svelte shapes. To improve your form (on the links as well as poolside), tackle one of the many fairways in the area. While pricey, Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Coast, about 10 miles south of Newport Beach, just may be the most beautiful place you've ever teed off. Back on the circuit after a two-year renovation, it has two 18-hole courses, each with stunning fairways that overlook ocean-side cliffs ($235 for 18 holes; pelicanhill.com).

Where to stay Montage Laguna Beach, set on a bluff above swaths of inviting white sand, attracts no end of red carpet regulars. Teri Hatcher has checked into the 30-acre resort, which has a 20,000-square-foot spa (from $595 per night; montagelagunabeach.com). The Inn at Laguna Beach isn't quite as opulent, but it does have comfortable rooms and just-as-good ocean views (from $139 a night; innatlagunabeach.com). It might be the perfect spot to relax and work on that screenplay.
