I've been going on a lot of dinner dates recently, and I'm realizing how many guys judge women on what they eat. I don't want to blow an entire day's calories in one sitting, so I'll often order some sort of salad—and my dates act like I'm committing a crime. One sneered, "What are you, on a diet?" Another rolled his eyes and sighed, "Why can't I meet a woman who isn't afraid to eat?" It's an annoying double standard: Men are attracted to girls who can dig in to a plate of ribs, but only if she's thin enough that her own ribs are showing! I don't want to justify my meal choices to anyone, and I shouldn't have to. I usually just shrug and say, "I like salad." And if he won't let it go, I've figured out the perfect response: "Check, please!"
