Festive and Fit Thanksgiving Cocktails
It’s just not a holiday without a drink. Considering all the calories you’re probably going to eat on the big day, stick to a low-calorie drink if you’re going to imbibe.
Of course there’s wine, but if you want something more special this year, serve one of these seasonal cocktails. Each clocks in around 200 calories and compliments your meal with flavors of apple, cranberry, and cinnamon.
To get the recipes right, I recommend a trial run tonight! That way you'll have peace of mind as you skillfully play bartender tomorrow.
DISARONNO Apple Cobbler
180 calories
Ingredients:
2 ounce DISARONNO®
1 ounce whole berry cranberry juice not from concentrate/no sugar added
3/4 ounce fresh unfiltered/unpasturized apple juice
1/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
2 dashes Peychauds bitters
1 red apple, sliced for garnish
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in shaker, shake vigorously with ice. Fine strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with a thinly sliced red apple.
Cinnamon Old Fashion
204 calories, 5.7g carbs, 5.7g sugar
Ingredients:
1/2 ounce cinnamon simple syrup
1 dash bitters
2 ounces Overholt rye whiskey
2-3 orange pieces
2 cherries, plus 1 for garnish
Cinnamon stick for garnish
Directions:
Muddle orange pieces and cherries with cinnamon simple syrup. Add bitters, Overholt Rye Whiksey, and shake with ice. Strain over fresh ice and garnish with a cherry and cinnamon stick.
