Elevating my workouts

I have a new favorite place to go running: a two-mile loop around a reservoir near my house. It's a beautiful path, but I really love that it ends with a steep 400-yard hill. Once a week, after I finish my jog, I use the incline to push myself. I run up the hill, increasing my effort until I'm sprinting as fast as I can. It only takes about a minute to reach the top, but it feels like a huge accomplishment. Then I catch my breath by walking slowly back down to the bottom. I usually repeat the sequence four or five times and then head home. Since I've started doing these short bursts of high intensity, I've noticed that I have better strength and stamina. Plus, the view from the top is amazing!
