Commit this phrase to memory: A slip is not a fall. It’s inevitable that you’ll binge on cookies or skip a workout. What actually happens doesn’t matter – but how you respond to it does. The first rule: Don’t beat yourself up. Saying to yourself, “Now I’ve blown it, so I might as well…” is self-defeating and fuels dieting sabotage (the guilt you feel after having one cookie can lead you to devour the whole box, for example).
