Biking Sites Worth Surfing

These companies don't just have stellar gear, they also have web pages with bulletin boards, blogs, events, and features that help get—and keep—you psyched to ride.

REI (rei.com) Check out their website devoted entirely to commuter biking. It includes videos on bicycling technique and safety and great gear from the new Novara collection. In addition, you can search for biking events and repair shops in your area.

Wal-mart (walmart.com) In celebration of National Bike Month, Wal-mart is offering free shipping and assembly on all bikes purchased online. In addition, customers who purchase Cruiser bikes on the web receive a free $20 e-gift card. Look for 30% off select bikes in store from Schwinn to Huffy and more.

Trek (trekbikes.com) Take a spin through its Cycling Guide, which includes everything from easy tips on how to correct your bike's fit to prepping for a race. Then get training advice from everyday cyclists on the Women Who Ride blog. (The site recruits new bloggers every year, so consider applying!)

Specialized (d4wgear.com) Watch the indispensable how-to videos on frustrating maintenance duties, like cleaning your bicycle chain. You can also click on the Specialized Riders Club to link to a community of female cyclists that's open to novices and experts alike.

Giant (giantforwomen.com) Read the I've-been-there blogs from women on the Giant Ride Society Council; they dish on everything from entering their first race to using cycling to beat postpartum depression. Also check out the ride-finder feature to meet up with newbie cyclists or seasoned riders near you.
