DON’T FORGET TO…
•Finish your breakfast at least two hours before your start time.
•Check in at registration or the day before.
•Get your body marked.
•Attach your bike, helmet, and bib numbers as directed by the race coordinators.
•Attach your timing chip (if the race has electronic timing).
•Rack your bike in your designated spot.
•Set up your personal transition area at your bike.
•Be aware of your wave number and wave start time.
•Allow time for a bathroom stop.
•If you have questions on race day, don’t be afraid to ask your fellow competitors. Remember: You aren’t the only one racing for the first time, and everyone else has been in your shoes before!
•Be confident that you did the training necessary.
•Pace yourself wisely and build your effort gradually throughout the swim, bike, and run.
•Relax, smile, and have a good time out there! All the work you put into training along the way will pay off today when you cross the finish line!
If the race permits it, get in the water pre-race for a warm-up! Focus on feeling strong and being relaxed. Be sure to practice sighting, also adding in a few builds (20-30 strokes) to get your HR up and your body ready to go. Take the time to look at the course from the water level, see where the buoys are, and pick your course.
