Valentine's Day isn't just about chocolates and flowers! Sweat up a storm at these fitness classes—with or without your guy
Valentines Day isn’t all about five course dinners or eating chocolates with your girls—it's about working up a sweat too. And we’re not just talking about between the sheets. Plenty of gyms and studios—like the nine on the slides ahead—are offering special Valentine’s Day classes, treats, and deals that we love.
(Don’t live near one of ‘em? Try The Total Body, Heart Rate-Raising Valentines Day Partner Workout at home.)
Book a Fhitting Room class on Valentine’s Day (and through February 20th) for you and a significant other (or you and a friend who has never been!), and you'll score a free class credit. It may sound selfish, but you’re also gifting your guy or friend by introducing him or her to the high intensity interval-style small-group classes. We say that's a win-win.
Plan to steam up those sheets later tonight? Head to SLT (a Pilates-cardio fusion class that uses a “Megaformer”—an amped up version of a standard Pilates reformer) earlier in the day for “the most earth shattering moves for better sex." Plus, love is in the air: If you end up on one special megaformer, you'll leave with a free class. (Not so lucky? You're covered with The Workout for Better Sex.)
Spend V-Day Eve at Swerve’s 7:30 p.m. cycling class and sip champagne (or a pink smoothie) during a post-spin mixer. If you’re single, maybe you’ll meet a date for the next night! If not, head back to Swerve the next day for a chance to find a rose in your locker that means you've been chosen for a complimentary class. We’ll take that for a consolation prize.
City Row invites you to bring your beau to row on the 14th fo’ free! You’ll take turns sharing one mat and one rower for the 50-minute interval-style class. If you’re ready for serious commitment, sign up for a 12-class package together and take home a “Rowmance” tank or tee.
The dance cardio queens at ((305)) Fitness are offering three special events this Saturday. Kick off the evening with "Yoga for Better Sex" (a 60-minute class followed by a couples Thai massage workshop); hop into the "Me, Myself and I", a heart-pumping cardio dance class followed by spa-style pampering and dinner; or stay post-feast for "A Night at the PlayBetch Mansion" (we’ll leave this one a bit mysterious, but know this: there will be Chippendale-style servers and cocktails).
If you and your guy are competitive, you’re going to love this: The couple with the highest “Power Score” on the 14th (check the schedule for classes that qualify) will win a “special” prize. Or head to FlyBarre's “Date Night” for a couples class (your guy sweats for free!). Single? Flywheel is also offering “heartBEATS Rides” throughout the day (again, check the schedule for rides in your area)—you’ll receive a sound-activated light-up bracelet.
Give your ticket some love at Drill Fitness, the heart rate-focused studio with both cycling and strength HIIT classes. On Valentine's Day, classes are 2-for-1 for couples. If you both do a ride and body class together (four total), you score a heart rate monitor. Sweet deal. (Check out The New Science of Getting in Shape.)
Barry's Bootcamp NoHo is offering an afternoon class with freebies way better than chocolate and flowers (Organic Avenue juices, blowouts from GlamSquad, and a chance to win a dozen classes!). Plus, there will be a live DJ.
