It's true that Kardashian-esque rear ends are blowing up our Instagram feeds, but if you've ever made it through months of killer butt workouts only to see little or no difference in your backside, one blogger has an important message for you: things are not always as they seem.
These side-by-side selfies posted by Sarah Puhto definitely look like before-and-after shots, but these are not progress pics. In fact, it only took mere seconds for her to give her glutes a boost. The change is simply the result of shifting from a straight-legged stance to a "booty pop position," as she writes in her caption. Just like you can use lighting to score the perfect selfie, you can also take advantage of positioning to "sculpt" your butt.
“In a world where the Kardashian's bootys are so glorified, we need to remember that the photos we see of them and others aren't always reality. Their butts can't always look that big from every angle. Same goes with photos on Instagram, we see them as goals and think we'll never be able to gain that much muscle or lose that much fat," she wrote. "Don't think you can't because you're comparing a posed photo of a body to your everyday body."
But she's not dissing all those gorgeous butts you see, she's just reminding women to put them in perspective. "Use them as motivation but don't get too caught up on them," she added. Her message to women everywhere? Remember that those pictures you see are just one moment in time and even the ones that aren't Photoshopped might still not represent reality—so stop comparing your butt to all the "perfect" posteriors online.
Keep up those squats, though—they're one of the best exercises of all time.
