Caffeinated Peanut Butter Is Now a Thing

Steem

Peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and Oreos, peanut butter and Nutella...there are so many winning combos featuring our favorite protein-packed spread. But PB and caffeine might just be our new favorite.

That's right, Massachusetts-based company Steem has just released caffeinated peanut butter. And it's all natural too. The peanut butter contains only peanuts, salt, peanut oil, and agave nectar—the caffeine comes from green-coffee extract. One teaspoon of Steem reportedly contains as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. (Check out these 4 Healthy Caffeine Fixes—No Coffee or Soda Required.)

“It’s a time-saver; your two favorite products in one jar,” Steem co-founder Chris Pettazzoni told Boston.com. (Not totally sure this will replace our morning PB and banana and coffee ritual, but he makes a good point!)

It's also more efficient than energy drinks—without the jitters, the company explains. “The unsaturated fats [in peanut butter] actually create bonds with the caffeine so the digestion process is slower and results in a steady release of energy,” Pettazzoni said. It's only available at select locations in the Northeast right now, but you can purchase it online (for only $4.99 plus shipping). In the words of Steem itself, it's the greatest thing you never knew you wanted.
