The bitter cherry finish of this drink from Swift’s Attic in Austin, Texas, reminds us of the sweet yet blunt Hannah on HBO’s Girls.
1/8 ounce Absinthe
3 to 4 dashes Peychaud Bitters
2 ounces Chopin Rye Vodka
1 1/2 ounces Punt e Mes
Rinse a straight-side Collins glass with absinthe. Moisten sugar cube under running water, then muddle well with the Peychaud’s bitters in a mixing glass. Pour in rye vodka and Punt e Mes, and stir to further dissolve sugar. Churn everything with a bar spoon, then pour into the prepared glass.
