Being born allergic to dairy, my whole life brunch equaled picking at a sub-par fruit plate while every else at the table ate delicious-looking, rich, decadent meals. When I moved to New York City, brunch became associated with a $25 to $40 sub-par fruit plate while my friends enjoyed their pancakes and French toast. I once even had a waiter set a “fruit plate” consisting of a chopped banana and chopped apple down in front of me. Seriously. I used every excuse in the book to get out of brunches with the girls and always rescheduled for dinner or lunch during the week.
When I found out about vegan brunch, my whole world changed! Suddenly brunch was my favorite meal—so long as it was at a vegan place, a place with vegan options, or I was cooking! For all of you animal-free eaters, lactose-free eaters, and everyone who loves a scrumptious brunch, I present my go-to vegan brunch recipes—every one of them tastier and more satisfying than a fruit plate!
