Help others-and your heart

Donating one pint of blood can save as many as three lives.

Now a new study shows that it may help you live longer, too. Researchers at Dartmouth Medical School found that people who had blood drawn twice a year had a lower risk of heart disease than those who didn't. "It removes excess iron that builds up in the body, which can damage artery walls over time," says lead author Leo R. Zacharski, M.D. Find a local blood drive at givelife.org.
