Have a UTI again?
If you suffer from frequent urinary tract infections, you may need to take better care of your back, says Larrian Gillespie, M.D., author of You're Not Crazy, It's Your Hormones!
"Sports injuries or overly strenuous exercise can compress spinal discs and damage the nerves that control your bladder," she explains. "As a result, the organ doesn't empty properly, leaving behind bacteria that can cause infections." This can happen when your spinal alignment is off-say, from lifting too-heavy weights or sitting improperly on an exercise bike. "Pay attention to when your symptoms occur," says Gillespie. "Many women wrongly assume that sex, which can also introduce infection-causing bacteria, is always responsible for their UTIs."
