Book Review: US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most by Lisa Oz

According to New York Times best selling author and wife of Dr. Mehmet Oz, of “The Dr. Oz Show” Lisa Oz, the key to a happy life is through healthy relationships. Specifically with the self, others, and the divine. In her latest book to be released in paperback (April 5, 2011) US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most, Oz explores each of these relationships and teaches the reader how to improve each one.

Oz draws on ancient traditions, spiritual and holistic leaders and largely on her personal experiences, encouraging readers to engage in their relationships in new ways. Oz believes, “We can be sent the same message over and over and fail to see it. The problem is that we play out identical patterns with different people—repeat our mistakes because we live by rote—and wonder what went wrong.” This book is intended to help readers get the message, break the cycle, and improve their relationships.

At the end of each chapter Oz provides exercises intended to be effortless and fun—not work—to help the reader put what they’ve read into action. “The key to real lasting change lies somewhere between what you know and what you do.” Make a change in your relationships and pick up a copy of  US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most available at www.simonandshuster.com ($14).
