Stressed? Who isn't these days, right? Besides regular workouts, meditation and deep breathing, did you know that your diet actually plays a role in how your body handles stress and anxiety? According to new research published in the journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity, omega-3 fatty acids may reduce anxiety and reduce inflammation in the body.

Researchers studied a group people known for living a high-stress lifestyle: medical students. Half of the group took an omega-3 supplement while the other half did not. Turns out, the group taking the omega-3s showed a 20 percent reduction in anxiety compared to the placebo group. They also had a 14 percent decrease in a marker indicating inflammation.

The researchers say that the findings are too preliminary to make any specific dietary recommendations, but between this study and other research that shows omega-3's importance to health, it definitely seems like omega-3s are the way to go!
