How Do I Add More Color To My Wardrobe?
Get it with these simple tips from style director Jacqui Stafford.
Q: Help! I always wear black, brown and gray. How do I add more color?
A: Try a jolt of fuchsia, lemon, cobalt or violet. Nervous about such opulent brights? Keep the rest of your wardrobe neutral with dark pants or a skirt and wear just a splash of vibrant color, like this Lacoste polo shirt or Catherine Malandrino shrug (below). Or throw on Bebe's super-sexy but practical raspberry cardigan ($149; bebe.com). Ready to make a serious stand against a drab palette? Isaac Mizrahi for Target's color-saturated patchwork skirt will dispel any gloomy fashion forecast ($28; target.com) when paired with a simple black turtleneck and knee-high boots. Another way to add intensity to an otherwise dull outfit? Accessories. A vivid leather handbag, bright shoes, a scarf or bold Lucite link necklace will add instant oomph without going overboard.
