Charlize Theron's Top 3 Beauty Secrets

The star's makeup artist shares his best get-gorgeous tips.

Even getting into character (and a ton of prosthetic stage makeup) for her Oscar-winning role in the 2003 movie Monster couldn’t make Charlize Theron look ugly. This South African beauty always manages to look gorgeous and glowing.

We went to her makeup guru, Emilio Uribe, to find out how he preps the star for red carpet perfection.

1. Prep the Skin
“Before makeup application, it's important to have a good skincare regimen,” Uribe says. “Makeup shouldn’t look heavy or cakey. The most important part is to take care of your skin and just use makeup to accentuate your natural beauty, as Charlize does.”

He says the star (and Dior spokesperson) likes to moisturize moisturize moisturize, using the super-rich $350 Dior L-Or de Vie cream. She also makes skin a nice smooth base for makeup by using Brilliance New York Age Defying Eye Serum for both under eyes and on décolleté for a ‘refreshed’ look.

“This serum is a little secret tool for any red carpet event… you just dab it on the face and on the neckline area too as this is where you can see the first signs of aging,” Uribe says.
