Three amazing women. Three busy lifestyles. Three different ways to approach health and well-being. Shape sat down with Julianne Hough, Martina McBride, and LeAnn Rimes as they revealed their simple tips for staying fit, strong, and sexy.
From the moment we got them together they acted like best girlfriends, gabbing over coffee about husbands, boyfriends, and kids, and comparing notes on how they deal with their insanely busy lives.

Shape: What's your typical diet like?
Julianne: I'm probably the worst person to talk to about that because I pretty much eat what I want. My trick is to stop as soon as I'm full. Last night my sister ordered Mexican food and I was like, "What are you trying to do to me? I have a shoot tomorrow!" But I ate until I felt satisfied, and then I was done.
Martina: I became fascinated with nutrition when I got pregnant with Delaney [her 14-year-old daughter]. I love to read about healthy eating and preach to my husband, who doesn't listen. Now I'm trying to teach it to my daughters. And it's working, because they all love green vegetables—like broccoli—but funny enough, not other colorful ones, like carrots, squash, and beets. I'm always telling my girls, "As long as what's on your plate is healthy, you should eat, eat, eat!" And they should be able to have treats too. We should all have treats, just not...
LeAnn: ...all the time. But there are days when you can't stop yourself!
Martina: So what? Why do we get so angry at ourselves when we eat foods we love? Do you think guys walk around going, "I just ate a cheeseburger and I'm so mad at myself"?
LeAnn: No, they don't! I just saw my husband [Dean Sheremet] at the food table eating a brownie, and he already had another one in his hand. And I said, "Are you going to eat two of those?" And he's like, "Yeah!" And I said, "I hate you right now [laughs]!"
Talk about smokin' hot! Don't even get me started, but it's too late. The July Shape magazine cover has three sizzlin' country music artists, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride and Julianne Hough on the cover. Slow down partner, I can't find a copy in Springfield, Illinois. Well, Shape magazine, please, and I mean PLEASE (do I need to beg?) make this cover edition available to more markets. Maybe a solution would be to have separate covers of each of these talented singers/songwriters. I'm partial to a special Martina cover.

Martina McBride is Beautiful and looks amazing ! Actually, she puts those other gals to shame! She's had 3 kids! You should really consider giving Martina her own cover and interview .. she is gorgeous inside and out!
I think Martina has a little more to show off than LeAnn and Julianne since she is 1-1/2 to 2 times their ages and has had three children and still looks great. LeAnn and Julianne are still in better shape than a lot of other people their ages too, but I, along with many others, have been led to believe that all three would be on this month's cover and all we can find are covers with only Julianne. I think Martina deserves a cover to herself!
I have looked in many different stores and cannot find the Shape Magazine with all 3 "Country Angels" on the cover. I have purchased the one with the Julianne Hough cover and thus have gotten to see and read the article, which is great! However, I would like to have a copy of the one for all 3! (I even looked on eBay for this. I thought I had found one, but the seller wrote me back to say that his copies only had Julianne on the cover!). While I really like Julianne and LeAnne, I also was wondering why Shape magazine did not offer the magazine with Martina McBride by herself on the cover. She is an incredible singer and a great role model for women everywhere! She deserves her own cover, also! Please consider this. Or at least consider distributing more copies of the Shape magazine with all 3 "Country Angels" on the cover! Thanks!
You did a great job getting these ladies on your magazine. I am a huge Martina fan and wonder why you don`t have Just Martina on the cover. I can only find Julianne on the cover. She is ver beautiful but Martina is a legend with everything she does and she is absolutely beautiful
All three of the country singers are lovely ladies. however, you should have used Martina McBride rather than Julianne Hough on the cover. Martina was able to overcome the disadvantaged of the other women being much younger than her to show that women of any age can be fit and fabulous. Martina is more than a beautiful angle, her songs inspires us with hope and joy. Martina is more wonderful than wonder women.
Hi shape magazine,i am a male and dont normally read shape,but heard martina mcbride was on the cover im a huge Martina McBride fan and thought it was awesome she was going to be on the cover of your magazine in a swimsuit. However, I have not been able to locate a cover in my area with Martina and Leann and Julianne all on the cover?. The only magazine I can find is the one with Julianne Hough on the cover.i have been to, to many to list store and markets! Would love to see Martina McBride get her own cover. I was excited to hear that Martina McBride would grace the cover of Shape Magazine along side with LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find the magazine with that cover. The only one I am able to find is with Julianne on the cover. Hough is a beautiful girl, but you could sell many more copies with Martina McBride gracing the cover. Martina has such a strong fan base, you would be able to sell out those magazine stands. Please release the intended cover or a solo Martina McBride cover.
I am such a big fan of Martina's! I own every CD she has ever released and when I heard she was going to be on the cover of Shape magazine I couldn't wait to see it and read up on what she had to say. I have been disappointed though because all the magazines I have seen around the stores only have Julianne on the cover...where is Martina!!! I think Shape needs to start selling copies of the magazine with only Martina on the front but, at the very least, sell more copies with all three lovely ladies portrayed!
I love your magazine. I'm finding it difficult finding a cover with Martina on the front. I'm a fan and find her to be an outstanding women. She is talented, an amazing mother and wife, and has always treated her fans with respect. I hope you will have more magazine covers out there with all 3 country angels.
I can't find the mag either. (the one with Martina on it) Boy are you missing out on sales! No big deal a couple of 20 somethings but Martina wow she looks better than the 20 somethings!

I live in the Seattle area and drive the entire Pacific NW. Is there anywhere I can find this months Shape magazine with the picture you advertised of all three country angels? I found the one with Julianne,(great cover). Are there four separate covers? I would like the one with all three ladies, but it would be great to see one with Martina and another one with LeAnn. I am thrilled that you have chosen Martina McBride to be one of the singers on the cover of your current issue! I am a huge Martina fan! What makes anyone think that Martina actually want's to be on the cover by herself? Maybe she only said that she would do it at all if she was not on it alone? And, doesn't covers like this send a bad message about body image to other women? There is nothing wrong with not being a size zero! Don't get me wrong they all look great, but they all also most likely have personal trainers/pilates/yoga instructors to help them achieve and/or maintain their figures.
Martina looks absolutely amazing. I can't seem to find the cover with Martina on it anywhere. All of the magazines that I see have just Julianne on the cover. Don't get me wrong, Julianne looks fantastic but I would definitely love to see Martina grace the cover by herself. Martina deserves to be on the cover!! She looks fantastic at the age of 42 AND after having 3 kids!!
I thought the cover was Country Angels? Up here in WI it seems some of the angels got lost and it's all about Julianne. While Julianne is a beautiful girl, I passed my 20 YEARS ago and my focus is on my 35+ year old body like Martina's. It appears there are others who feel the same way. Each copy of your magazine I pick up without Martina on the cover gets put back on the shelf. When I find one with Martina on the cover - it's mine!!!! (and I might even buy 2!!) Until then...I guess I'll just have to enjoy the copy online. Sorry Shape - I'm interested in the Shape of Martina's life - Julianne just doesn't cut it for me.

Thank you for putting celebrating country's angels in your magazine! When I heard about the issue, I was looking forward to purchasing it, especially because Martina McBride was involved. As much as I like Julianne Hough, I was hoping to find Martina on the cover. I have heard that there are different covers for this issue, so I am searching for one with Martina on the cover. However, I have been out of luck thus far. Is there one with just Martina on the cover? If so, could you please let me know where I can find one? If not, would you consider publishing a version with just Martina on the cover. I think I am not along when I say that Martina inspires me because of how she balance her commitments to her family and career, while still taking good care of herself and being in great shape.
I can only find the cover with just Julianne in my area. And I live in Kansas: Martina's home state!! We should at least get the cover with all three on it. But if you're putting just one of the three on the cover, Martina should be the one to grace it, since she is a role model for all the moms and their daughters!
I think Martina looks AMAZING!! It is too bad more people will not get to see her looking so radiant while standing in line at stores. I know it would be flying off the shelves if it were available. So why isn't it??? Her fans are ready to buy multiple copies of this cover and yet we can't. Why not?? You could be making triple the amount of money for this cover had you printed copies with Martina, Leann, and Julianne. I'm sure all of their fans would be buying up the copies. I know as a Martina McBride Fan Club member we are all very upset that there are not copies for us to buy. Please fix this!!! I will be continuing to post on her until we get our copy.
It's nice to see three women at totally different stages of their life all having the same idea about a healthy lifestyle. I am a mother to a daughter and it is difficult as they become more body aware that they realize what is healthy and what is not. Martina deserves credit for educating her daughters as well as being an excellent example to them.

I just bought a copy of your magazine for the first time ever, because of the interview with Martina McBride inside. I was sadden that you didn't put her on the cover as reported by various news outlets. However, I really enjoyed the interview you had with the three interesting and beautiful women. I still would have liked to have seen Martina on the cover, if not by herself, then with LeAnn Rimes, and Julianne Hough.
I was so pumped for this magazine to come out - Martina McBride, Julianne Hough and LeAnn Rimes! How cool is that? Martina looks so awesome! She's in her 40s AND has three kids! Pretty impressive! I was really hoping to find a copy of the magazine with all three ladies on the front, but all I could find was the one with Julianne on the cover! Martina deserves to be on the cover (as they all do) and I think more than just a limited number of those need to be printed! I am sure people would go crazy over it! When I heard Martina Mcbride was going to be on the cover of your magazine I thought it was wonderful to feature a mature mother of three who continues to inspire as such a great role model for the youth of today. First thank you for positively acknowledging country music -- I was so happy to see that Shape took time to do that. However, I was unhappy to find that ALL three women were not featured on the cover of all the newsstand copies as promoted. I can't find a copy with all three on the cover. Martina most of all is an inspiration at 42 with three children and doing it all with class to boot! I'm also 42 with no children and this has inspired me to eat better.
Although I adore the dancer, Julianne and the singer Leanne--Martina McBride is so deserving of her very own magazine cover. She is the epitome of staying in "shape" while performing at the top of her game, loving her girls and her hubby and us! She's a fabulous Super Star!
I love Martina McBride! She is my all time favorite singer. It was so cool to see this mom of 3 in her early 40's show off her figure- she is a healthy young woman with good habits. I love her comments about having treats too- I believe too everything in moderation because that is where we all hit our downfalls. Anyway I subscribe to SHAPE and was so excited to get the copy with Martina on the cover! I also agree w. many here- Martina should have had her own cover. Anyway, Martina is an awesome role model for women of all ages.
Martina by far is the most beautiful of all three of these Women. She most definately deserves a cover by herself. She may just have a new calling. swimsuit model.
Martina will shine no matter where or who she is standing beside. Martina is beautiful on the inside and the out. Her heart is what makes her so special. Self did a wonderful job of picking Martina to represent! She is down-to-earth, does eat, and is one of God's tresures on earth!

Second, as a fan of Martina McBride's since her debut in 1992, I was thrilled to see her on your cover. I was also disappointed to not be able to find a copy with all three women featured.
Third, Martina truly does Shine! She's a phenomenal talent, a kind and giving human being, a mother of 3 and still fit. She's a super positive role model for young girls and women everywhere. She deserves to be on the cover with an exclusive feature on her all by herself.

I love the cover with all 3 country artists on it!! It shows the ability of these women to stay in "shape" regardless of their respective ages. I am however having great difficulty finding a copy of the magazine with Martina, Leann, and Julianne on it, and as a result, I have not purchased a copy yet. As a woman over 40, I find Martina McBride inspirational and would love to have a copy with her on the cover. Why is it so difficult to find???? Martina has been around a lot longer than Leann or Julieanne and blows them out of the water. Just look at her after 3 kids,she manages to stay in shape and lives a very busy lifestyle, She totally deserved to be on the cover alone the way it was planned to be in the first place. Martina McBride, who rarely shows her beautiful body, is an excellent example of everything your magazine promotes. The idea that despite having a successful career, children, and a busy life, if you take care of yourself, you can look great at any age. So why can't I find a cover that features her? You blew an excellent opportunity.
When I heard Martina McBride was going to be sharing the cover with these two other ladies, I could not wait to get me a copy. Then, to my disappointment, I go to many different stores to see only Julian Hough to be on the cover. Martina McBride deserves to be on the cover more than any of them, because at her age, she looks better than the 20 year olds, and there are many, many people who were looking forward to see Martina on this cover. I think there needs to be more issues with either all three of them on the cover, or just Martina McBride herself. She looks too good not to be on the cover. I believe more issues would get sold if Martina McBride was included on the cover!

Where is the cover of all 3 women? If you were going to choose one person to showcase it should have been Martina McBride. She is a gorgeous working mom of 3 beautiful daughters and she's not 20 something!! As a women of 43 years, I appreciate seeing a "real" woman on the cover who is 40-something without plastic surgery and can still be strong, healthy and gorgeous!!
I was so disappointed when Martina and LeAnn wasen't on the cover of Shape in the stores. Had they been i would have bought several copies. I didn't buy one. Can you purchase a copy with Martina, LeAnn and Julianne all on the cover? Martina looks fabulous and she is a postive role model for women and girls of all ages.
I love all of three of these ladies and was looking forward to picking up a copy with all of them on the cover. While Julianne looks amazing, it is disappointing to find that Martina did not make the cover--as was announced. Please consider reprinting the issue or giving Martina her own cover. I, too, am among the many who can't find a copy of Shape with Martina on the cover. I understand that Julianne may appeal to a younger audience, but what better example of staying in shape than a 42 year old mother of 3 that looks this fantastic. It gives us all hope! I know it was so much easier when I was Julianne's age. Add to this, Martina is a fantastic role model to women of all ages, from her award winning successes in country music to her continued efforts on behalf of women fighting domestic violence and her current collaborations to help fight teen dating violence. I'll continue to search for a copy of Martina on the cover, but I'm disappointed, to say the least.
I first heard about Martina, Leann and Julianne being on the cover of Shape on WBEE 92.5 in Rochester, NY one morning on my way to work. Naturally I went to Wegman's, which is our largest grocery store chain and was disappointed that I could not find an issue. I appreciate being able to read an exerpt on line but it's not the same. How can I get this issue? My daughter had the privilege to meet Martina at a concert in Darrien Lake, NY July 12, 2008. It would mean a great deal to my daughter to have a copy of this. Martina is one of her favorite country singers. Thank you!
I have been to multiple locations in New York City and New jersey and am unable to find a copy of the magazine with Martina on the cover. I am upset that the magazine would offer two different versions of the same magazine. Obviously a concern that people wouldnt know Martina if she were on the cover. How very unfortunate for them to conclude this. Though I very much wanted to buy this, I think I'll not even bother now. Wasted enought time looking and it's just not right. Bottom line is always about money, right Shape? More people can identify the Julianne girl, but not Martina. Why bother having martina pose for the cover, and then systematically put her cover out only where you feel it will do you the most sales. That's a horrible message to send out.
I usually do not take the time to write reviews, but the decision that was made by the Editors of Shape Magazine to mass distribute the magazine cover of Julianne Hough versus the cover of Julianne Hough, Martina McBride and Leann Rimes is not only unfair to Martina and Leann, but it clearly shows favoritism and partiality to Julianne Hough. Why would Shape Magazine ask Martina and Leann to be on the copy of their very popular health magazine if they were not going to give their customers the opportunity to purchase the magazine with the cover of the three beautiful women? I have checked every store in my area and our stores do not have the cover with Julianne, Martina and Leann. My friend receives the Shape Magazine in the mail and she called me and told me the magazine she received has Julianne, Martina and Leann on the cover. Why would the Editors of Shape Magazine make such a poor business decision and mass distribute only the cover with Julianne Hough when they will only sell this magazine to the Julianne Hough fans? The brilliant business decision would have been to mass distribute the Shape Magazine cover with all three women - Julianne, Martina and Leann -- because then Shape Magazine would have the fans of Julianne, Martina and Leann purchase the Shape Magazine in the stores. I am very disappointed with Shape Magazine’s Editors and their biased decision. I hope you will read the reviews from your customers and realize that you made a mistake and redistribute the Shape Magazine with all three women. Thank you!

Julianne Hough is a beautiful young woman and is deserving of being on the cover, however, I would love to see Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes on the cover with her. Martina is an immensely talented singer, devoted mother & wife, humanitarian, and is a stunningly beautiful woman. In my humble opinion, Martina McBride looks beautiful in her bikini and belongs on the cover of this month's Shape for the entire world to see.

Love Shape Magazine, so when I heard that Martina was on the cover I couldn't wait to buy a copy because I am a #1 FAN and so are my grown daughters...but I can't find it anywhere!! I am hearing that there is some with Martina solo and some like the above with all 3 beauties, why is that? Martina is a true role model and inspiration! She's relatable, down to earth, gorgeous and talented...She's a Star! I am proud to share a common love for her music and grounded standard of life with my daughters. I've been looking for the SHAPE issue with Martina on the cover but can only find ones with just Julianne!! Where can I buy a copy that has Martina on the cover, too?
I have searched everywhere and have not been able to locate the Shape magazine with all three (Martina, Julianne, and LeAnn) on the cover. I think Shape should make the magazine with all three available for purchase or do another cover with just MARTINA. This has been a true disappointment for Martina and LeAnn fans. I hope Shape does the right thing and circulates more issues with all three ladies on the cover.
I also was very excited to find out Martina was supposed to be on the cover with Julianne and LeeAnn! I love all three of them but Martina has been such a great female role model and my favorite singer since i started to listen to country music! I was really disappointed also when i looked in several stores all over Michigan and Wisconsin and could not find the issue with all of them! Please let us know where or if we can get this issue! Almost doesnt ever want me to buy your magazine. Very dissapointed Martina McBride Fan!
Why can i only find the cover with Julianne on the cover? No doubt she's beautiful but I believe all three should be on the cover. I will not buy an issue until I see one with all three beautiful ladies on the cover.
I'm so disappointed I can't find a cover with all three ladies on it. You're doing an injustice to LeAnn and Martina as well as to their fans. If Julianne gets her own cover, then I vote for Martina to get her own cover as well. This issue is about 'Country's Angels' and I can't think of anyone who is more respected and loved in the Country Music community than Martina McBride. She has 3 children and shows us that mothers at any age can have a twenty-something body too. Martina is a true inspiration and incredible role model to young girls and women everywhere. She deserves her own cover.
What about us?? We don't get the magazine at all in Australia, one or three starts on the cover!!! I'm a great Martina fan, and the other ladies, to a lesser degree.
It was widely advertised that Martina McBride would be on the cover of Shape magazine with the other two ladies of country. It was so disappointing to not have that happen when I went hunting from store to store to own a copy of this great cover. You need to rectify the issue and have all 3 on the cover for all to buy, not just your subscribers, although I think Martina deserves to be on the cover by herself. Sales would go out the roof!!!!

I have asked friends and falimy in 14 different states to check all of their magazine retailers, to locate a copy with Martina on the cover. NONE of them can find anything but the one with Julianne on the cover. What this means is, Shape only released the tri-girl cover to subscribers, and only put the one with Julianne on the cover in stores. That is just sooooo wrong! Shape should at the very least make the Martina cover available thru their site. Being a collector of Martina memorabilia, I had to track one down and purchase it thru ebay from a subscriber. Pitiful!
Evidently, only subscribers are getting the cover with all 3 gals on it. Newstands only have the cover with Julianne. Shape really screwed martina fans on this one!

Martina's hot!! She said that someone made an executive decision to have the mag with all 3 girls go only to the subscribers to Shape and news stands will have just Julianne.
I am writing as a discouraged member of the Martina McBride fan club. I am discouraged because I have not been able to find the Shape magazine with Martina on the cover at any store in the Tampa, FL area. I only find issues with Julianne Hough on the cover. Very disappointed in your magazine.
I have never been too interested in purchasing Shape magazine until I heard that Martina McBride was going to be on the cover. Then I find only Julianne Hough on the cover. No offense to Julianne-she is lovely-but Martina really deserved the cover. Come on, guys!
I too have searched everywhere for the cover featuring all three ladies of country music and cannot find it.If it is available, it must not be anywhere in North Carolina.I'm a longtime die-hard fan of Martina Mcbride and this is a big disappointment.Shape magazine,you really dropped the ball on this one!
