Converse Kicks Are Getting an Athletic Upgrade

Whether you're lacing up for a half-marathon training run or just meeting some friends for brunch, we know you take your sneakers very seriously. So you'll be excited to learn one tried-and-true style is getting a fun athletic upgrade.

Last year, Converse updated their classic chucks (after a century with the same iconic design) and earlier this year, they gave All Stars a fresh new design too. And now the sneaker company is coming out with an entirely new look that's way more gym-ready than anything you've seen before from the brand. The Modern Collection is a big departure from the casual canvas shoes the brand is built on. If it weren't for the iconic star logo, would you even recognize them as Converse? BTW, if you're wondering why these sneakers look eerily similar to your favorite Nikes, that's because Converse is actually owned by Nike—who knew?!

At the forefront of the new collection is the Auckland Modern shoe, which is an update on the old-school Auckland Racer design of the 70s and 80s. The new track-inspired style comes in five colors (gray, red, black, green, and blue) and is pimped out with Nike's Hyperfuse construction and Phylon outsoles—designed for better cushioning that will hold up during your workouts while still allowing for good mobility. The Auckland Modern is available right now for $110 a pop.
